Dopo aggiornamento, disinstallazione e reinstallazione ...!

Post by Cicerone80 »

Quali i criteri seguire?

Grazie.

Re: After updating, uninstalling and reinstalling ...!

Hello.

Excuse me. I have not translated into English for my post.

With the previous version of Phoca Gallery I regularly published pictures, and also geotagging images (displayed in four ways: map, satellite, hybrid, and plot D :D .

Then, after I upgraded to Phoca Gallery vers. 2.6.2, was not able to publish more :o : no new images (I only those created with the previous version), much less geotagging images. Without perhaps relevant: I have not found in the Preferences (general parameters) of the new version of Phoca Gallery where to place the Google Maps Key (the exact location but indicated in the previous version).
As a possible solution, I decided to uninstall and reinstall Phoca Gallery 2.6.2. Uninstalled Phoca Gallery conservatively locally (... and thank goodness!), I lost the front end of the site  , but fortunately not the backend :) . So, I imported the DB remotely with phpMyAdmin, and I reinstalled Phoca Gallery 2.6.2. Fortunately, reloading 's site-local address in the browser, I see the front end, but still unable to publish images and/or geotaggated images.

Now, on the Internet and on Internet forums, someone says that the uninstall of com_phocagallery_v2.6.2.zip must be complete, and someone still claims to also uninstall the plugin Phoca Gallery, plg_content_phocagallery_2.6.2.zip, (which I done); even someone else says to empty the database of all the tables PhocaGallery (which I have not yet done).

With Windows Explorer, I opened the first site folder on the local, then the components folder, containing not only com_phocagallery (and this is normal), but also an 'other components folder (which seems strange to me!). So, I opened this additional components folder, and inside I saw all 'nearly the same folders as before, and between them once again folder Phoca gallery. The presence of a second folder Phoca Gallery components in a second folder, I was wrong to suppose that I uninstall Phoca gallery.
With File Manager, I found the same situation in remote (double presence in the public_html file system that both components of Phoca Gallery).

So what 'is the correct way to install and uninstall Phoca Gallery? What are the criteria to follow? :?:

In desperation, I even thought, after so many failures and lost hours to renounce Phoca Gallery, but I can not because I really like.
Some pious soul help me?... maybe only a few links for further study, on the issue of proper maintenance of a component, and the proper uninstall and reinstall if l 'update fails?
The address (for quickly assessing the situation) of my site is: http://lanostrapiazzetta.net

Thank you.

Hi, Google Maps API key is not needed anymore as Phoca Gallery uses Google Maps API3

If you want to upgrade Phoca Gallery, you should NOT uninstall it as the data will be lost, just install new version and click on UPGRADE button.

If you want to uninstall Phoca Gallery, just go to Install manager in Joomla! and uninstall the component.

Dear Jan

I appreciate your advice. I then I read the contents of the link that you have recommended to me. It is very interesting! It's late tonight, but tomorrow I want to learn how to update via ftp. Tonight I will try to update again locally (for caution) with INSTALLER, I have only one doubt: since the version of Phoca Gallery is the latest (2.6.2) makes sense to update with the same version? How do I create new images with the new version? The reason why I can not could be due to the fact that I have files and folders created with the old version of Phoca Gallery?
Anyway, thank you very much :D .
You've done enough work  , and now I have to work on the problem :x .
Again thanks.

Dear Jan

I made just now 's update of the Phoca Gallery 2.6.2 (...on local site)

I received this error message: [quote] Fatal error: Call to undefined method stdClass:: onDisplay () in C: \ Program Files \ xampp \ htdocs \ lapiazzetta \ libraries \ joomla \ html \ editor.php on line 268
[/ quote]
As you see, is not enough simply to update.

Salerno (Italy), Friday, February 5, 2010.

Dear Jan.

Despite the fatigue, with l 'aid of your advice, I realized in my site locally what I wanted. I hope to transfer all in remote, still I have to uninstall the failure of Phoca Gallery. You describe what I did, even for the benefit of those who have followed this tread.

Creating the front end of a module 'Phoca Gallery', with a menu item 'The 7 Wonders of the World'
Component: com_phocagallery_v2.6.2.zip (Phoca Gallery vers. 2.6.2)
Joomla vers. 1.5.15.

Operations necessary:
1. Creating the 'Slideshow from the world' category, and after, activation with Cooliris of that category (select the category and click Cooliris icon in the upper right).
2. Creating images. Images-> Multiple Add-> Java Upload-> Browse ... (select the personal folder on your PC already contains all the images to load) -> Upload
3. Geotagging images: it is now necessary to customize each image by providing the coordinates of the spot, zoom level, the title of 'image and description, namely: Images-> click on the link' s image in the 'Slideshow from mondo'-> insert these values obtained before by Hearth Google or Google Maps.
4. Creating Menus Phoca Gallery (type: PhocaGallery; title: Phoca Gallery; Description: Gallery of images form: Phoca Gallery), and subsequent enabling of module-Extensions> Module Manager (look in the table and click on the name 'Phoca Gallery 'the form, otherwise the form will not be visible in the front-end). In the same table, place the front-end module where we want, such as just below the Main Menu.
5. Creating menu item 'The 7 Wonders of the World': Menu Manager-> click icon-> New-> menu item-> Phoca Gallery-> Phoca Gallery Category Layout (insert the values required)

From front-end, clicking the menu item 'The 7 Wonders of the World' opens a page that displays the 7 images. Each image can be viewed in different ways by clicking on the icons that are below the pictures.

THANKS! MANY THANKS!!!
