AVIF is a modern image format. It is important to check the server support for this format. Both the GD library and Imagemagick can have problems with AVIF. Both need different additional libraries. With GD, it can happen that some versions and dependencies get set up wrong and then the functions for AVIF don't work. For Imagemagick, the latest version (7) is needed and some Linux systems have an older version (6) in the core. Sometimes a missing library causes an image to look like AVIF, but inside it is e.g. PNG. etc.
