Random Image per menu-item

Post by mlooise »

Hello,

I am a new enthousiastic user of Phoca-Gallery. I have however a small question. I would like to display a random image on my site, depending on the menu-item which is currently displayed. This would require some sort of module / plugin which relates the menu-item that is selected to the gallery-category for displaying the images.

Is something like this done before to anyone's knowledge ?

Example:

Menu1 -> displayes random images from category 5 in a dedicated space on the page
Menu2 -> displayes random images from category 6 in a dedicated space on the page

I hope it's clear what i would like to achieve.

Any help would be appreciated. If this has never been done before then I should probably write something myself.

Kind regards,

Martin

Hi Martin,

I think you can do this with the Phoca Gallery Image Module what can display random images from one or more categories. When adding this module more than once and enabling each instance of that module only for special menu item(s) it should work as you want.

Hi Ronny,

Thanks for your reply ... A creative sollution ! That should theoretical work indeed. Using the standard limitation capability of Joomla to only show a module on certain menu's and the category assignment of the module ...

Will try that tommorow .. I'll keep you posted !

Hi Martin,

thanks for the compliment :)

Tried it on my test website - it works indeed! So give it a try, too...
