Translate picture descriptions with joomfish

Hi,

I am new with joomla and phoca galery, so please forgive me, if I ask a question that has been answered already somewhere. I searched several forums now, including this but did not find an answer.

I am using joomla 1.5.1 with the latest version of phoca gallery and Joomfish 2.0.4. I managed to translate pretty much everything on our site, unless: in our galleries I added descriptions to several pictures that I would like to translate as well but cannot find the way, where or how to do it.

Can anybody help?

Hi Peter,

with Joomfish you normally have everything you need to achieve the wanted... Did you install one of the Joomfish files from the Phoca Gallery Download section? This is needed for Joomfish to know the Phoca database tables and fields. Then you should be able to translate the description of any image within your Phoca Gallery (you can see this on my website, also realized using those components).

...thanx, that helped. But do you also know an easyer way to translate the pictures description but within the JoomFish translation tool, since we have a LOT of pictures all with very cryptic names. Isn't there a ways (like usually) to switch to another language within the phoca gallery picture-view?

If I got you right - you mean if you can enter the translations when being in the admin panel, in Phoca detail view of each picture? Unfortunately this isn't possible because Joomfish only adds another layer for displaying items, not for entering data - that's only possible by the Joomfish means. (The only easier way is to enter the translations directly into the database tables...)
