doubt: original pictures usage

Hi.
I'm missing something: after having build a pictures gallery, I can see all my thumbnails in the gallery and have the choice to show a detailed view of single pictures, but also the detailed view is a thumbnail of the original picture.

It seems that, if I do not enable the download option, I don't need the original pictures at all: is it true?

Please help me to better understand the phocagallery logic and behaviour.

Hi, search this forum for getting information why the original image should stay on your server (recreating thumbnails, downloading, creating watermarks, getting info about size and checking the limits for frontend uploading, displaying original image in highslide js, etc., etc.)
