Cannot create new categorie

I have installed Phoca Gallery on Joomla 1.5.8 and I'm having an issue with the category creation.

I have the following message when I'm trying to create a folder :

Warning: opendir(/home/wwwdund/public_html/images/phocagallery/bullsa) [function.opendir]: failed to open dir: Permission denied in /home/wwwdund/public_html/libraries/joomla/filesystem/folder.php on line 450

Warning: readdir(): supplied argument is not a valid Directory resource in /home/wwwdund/public_html/libraries/joomla/filesystem/folder.php on line 451

Warning: closedir(): supplied argument is not a valid Directory resource in /home/wwwdund/public_html/libraries/joomla/filesystem/folder.php on line 475

I tried to enable FTP, disable/enable JFile Thumbnail Creation, change folder permission... but it doesn't make any difference.

I connected via FTP to the phocagallery folder and I saw that the categorie within are 043 and that I can't change the permission. I have no issue with other folders. I even tried to install another gallerie and the folders have no issue.

Hi, you should install the latest version but before you need to ask your webhosting provider how to set permissions and ownership.

Installation of components is made by Joomla! but it seems on your server there is problem with permissions or ownership of files and folders. You need to ask your webhosting provider which method should be used (ftp or not ftp) and what can be wrong with not writing the files on the server

Hi Jan,

Thanks for your prompt answer.

When I'm logged via FTP I can't even remoce the phocagallery folder after removing the component.
Another weird thing, is that after adding a phoca menu item, my homepage (only this one) was blank. After researching in different support, I found that it added a index.html file in my main folder...

So I think that my hosting company doesn't fit well with Phoca, and that's sad because it's a great component.

I'll use it for a different website with different hosting company.
