Upgrading Phoca Gallery problem

Post by babu65 »

Hi to all,
currently I’ve Phoca Gallery component v4.0.2 on Joomla 3.4.4 so I wish upgrade it.
It pick up the images from Picasa.
I’m following the documentation and try install by Extension Manager, so I’ve tried to upload the zip fie of v4.1.0 or 4.2.1 but in both cases don’t work and the upload finish as this declaration “Error ““Copy file failed”
Where I go wrong?
Many thanks in advance

Hi, this seems to be a Joomla! issue, as Joomla! manager tries to install the extension. It should be known issue, but just try to ask on joomla.org forum, if there is a fix or solution for installing the extensions in Joomla! 3.4.4

Unfortunately, until the extensions is not installed, the problem cannot be found there, it is a problem of the extension manager  so there I have no clue what can be wrong there

Hi Jan,
many thanks for your reply.
I don't think it's a Joomla issue, because the other component, module and plg are installing and uninstallig regulary. If should be a problem of Joomla I can't install nothig.

Hi, Phoca Gallery is large component, so maybe Joomla! has problem with large components.

The problem is, I cannot say. Until the component is installed, no code from Phoca Gallery is running. So first Joomla! needs to install it and after it is installed, then the Phoca Gallery code is running. So while installing of the component, there is no code coded in Phoca Gallery which is running. The code can run after installing.

So it is hard to find error when the component didn't run yet. Something like when the product is still boxed in package, you cannot say, there is an error as you didn't unpack it yet and it is not running. After the product is unpacked from the box and tested then we can say, something is wrong in the product.

For now I am testing it and get no problem, there, I am testing in on 3 different systems: Joomla! 3.4.4 and latest Phoca Gallery.

I will do more tests but in fact this is testing a Joomla! extension manager, not the component self
