phoca gallery settings not updating - no error

Hi, i am trying to change the image "Category Image Ordering" from "special" under Phoca Gallery Options-->Category View Settings (Categories above Images)
but when i hit save, it is saying it saved but goes back to old settings...nothing changed after the refresh, i did this multiple times...same results. i can change to other sorting or any other settings, it always goes back to the settings before i saved.

any ideas what can cause this??
