Error while saving item

Post by muehleis »

Hi !

Now it try it for two days, read about Permissions in your Forum but don't get further.

I use Joomla 1.6 and Phoca Gallery 3. I have the FTP-Layer enabled.

I can upload an avatar in the frontend and it works fine.

But when i want to upload an image i got an error "Error while saving item". I got it with the "single Upload" and with the Java-Applet.

The file is in the folder "images/phocagallery/" and has the permission "777".

Do you have any ideas, where the problem could be ?

Hi,
I use Joomla 1.6 and Phoca Gallery 3. I have the FTP-Layer enabled.
Did you try this with disabled FTP-Layer too?
Kind regards,
Benno

Hi,

Did you check if your image does not exceed the allowed resolution ?
It happened to me once, and the warning did not mention the resolution problem...

Just me 2 cents (€ cents of course !)

Yes, first i did not use the FTP-Layer but than not even the avatar-upload worked.

I resized all imaged before trying. They had the correct resolution and physical size.

It's strange: Now not even the Avatar-Upload works and i changed nothing. I see just a small place holder with a red "x" in it. All images are uploaded with the rights "600" which explains the placeholder but i have no idea what causes the problem.

When i upload an image with an FTP-Program in the folder /images/phocagallery/, the images got the correct permissions.

I think i solved the rights-Problem.

I chmod'ed the whole component-Folder and his files with 755.

Thank you for your effort above.

Now i have another problem.

Some Picture-Uploads work, some not. After many tests i figured out that the Images which wouldn' be uploaded have the ending ".JPG" (All Capital Letters). When i change the filename to ".jpg" it works.

Is there a way to enable ".JPG"-Fileextentions ? Couldn't find it in the documentary.

Hi, not sure but there should not be problem with all capital letters. I will take a look at it and let you know.

Hmmm, cannot confirm it, while uploading, all images are transformed to small, if the file is uploaded by ftp, no problem with working with it?

Tested in admin and in frontend

Yes, I did...

I even completly reinstalled... no change.
I guess it has something to do with permissions. Just have no idea why the backend upload works then
