Hi,
I am trying to install phocagallery 4.1.1 into a new Joomla 3.3.1 installation. The upload method failed so I tried the method outlined in https://www.phoca.cz/documents/2-phoca-g ... setup-file, but received a 404 component not found error. Then I tried the method outlined in https://www.phoca.cz/documents/2-phoca-g ... em-solving, but I received a Warning
JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find Joomla XML setup file error when trying to upload & install the com_phocagallery_ftp_install.zip file.
I don't know what to try next. I did try the phocaguestbook 3.0.2 and that uploaded & installed with no problems.
thanks,
Mark

I've got the same problem, I think they have to update the com_phocagallery_ftp_install.zip files. Please someone do something about that, this is very frustrating...

Re: Problem Installing phocagallery
Hi, unfortunately, Phoca Gallery does not install itself, so this should be a question on joomla.org forum as Joomla! extension manager is the one which installs the extensions in Joomla!
Not sure why Joomla! cannot find the XML file, maybe some time issue on server, maybe other problem.
There is no more com_phocagallery_ftp_install.zip in Joomla! 3, as there is other method, see:
https://www.phoca.cz/documents/16-joomla ... -in-joomla
When you get this error:
404 component not found error
mostly this is somehow related to problems while updating in Joomla! By some users this did help:
https://www.phoca.cz/documents/16-joomla ... m-manually
after they have removed the componenty completely (no item in Joomla! database and no items in filesystem) and then installed it newly, it worked for them.

I followed the manual removing files procedure and installed from a directory and it worked.

Re: Problem Installing phocagallery
HI, i'm also getting trouble installing phocaguestbook on my 3.x joomla, running on nginx / debian.
i've followed the steps on manual install / uninstall, but still no luck.
the installation stops with error "404 Component not found". after i checked the file structures, it already copied the contents on components/com_phocaguestbook and administrator/components/com_phocaguestbook. but when i checked on the database, it's nowhere to find. not a single word about phocaguestbook is found. i already followed the steps on installing the table manually, but also with no luck. the __assets table also didn't have any word about it.
can anybody help me?
thanks before.
(sorry, i posted here on [solved] thread)

Re: Problem Installing phocagallery
yes, i already did.
- install an FTP server on my web server
- turn off SEF
- delete related tables (if any)
- delete related dir / files (if any)
is it because i try it on nginx? i read on some articles, it because nginx does'nt support htaccess (but i doubt it that it's because of nginx).
thanks.

Re: Problem Installing phocagallery
Hi, there should be not any problem with .htaccess, you don't need any .htaccess rules for installing components in Joomla!
