Menus, categories and URLs are mixed up

Post by nmaragos »

Hello again,

In the site I am working on, I have defined 3 categories:

super1 (ID:3)
  • sub1_1 (ID:2)
  • sub1_2 (ID:1)
super2 (ID:5)
  • sub2_1 (ID:4)
In the Main Menu, I display:
  1. super1's subcategories under Menu Item "new editions" (here: epistimi.gr/new-editions)
  2. super1's + super2's subcategories under Menu Item "catalogue" (here: epistimi.gr/catalogue)
To do this, I set in Menu Items:

"new-editions"
  • Filter Parent Category ID = 3
"catalogue"
  • Filter Parent Category ID = 3,5
That works great so far.

However:

Check the URL when selecting ANY of the sub-categories of epistylio.gr/catalogue: it points to "new-editions" route, and that causes problem when you "go back" from a category to the categories list.

Any help?

Thank you,
Nikos

Hi, yes, the best case is to use one menu link or if more menu links are used, then without SEF. As SEF is set by menu links in Joomla! there are some limits regarding this issue, like searching the right menu link (itemid) to create right SEF link (no problem with one menu link, problem when more menu links and SEF is enabled :-( ) .

Hello Jan,

I disabled SEF but the problem remains.

Hmm, then it always takes another Itemid, so the only one solution for now is to do only one menu link :-(
