Hi Jan--
I have probably near a half million images that i have loaded to phocagallery over the years. These were loaded in different categories and folders to organize image sets (usually by day). These are pictures from a nightclub that are taken every night then loaded.
I need to start purging the archives. I have gone ahead and deleted the images from the server, but since they are represented in the subfolders, i cannot delete the categories (maybe about 150). The 150 top level categories house thousands of sub folders.
How can i quickly grab all the categories I want to delete all purge--I am only deleting the archive, not the current, so I cannot simply "select all." Im glad to go into the mysql tables and do the deletion. Im open to any thoughts to get this done in less then 45 minutes.
I can PM you creds if you need as well.
Thanks so much

Hi, really no idea which system will be the best for it, you allways need to select the right images, so I think there canot be some automatically way
and you need to delete it from database but from server too in case, it will be done manually (phpmyadmin + ftp e.g.)

Re: Mass Delete
hmm... im pretty sure there's a way.
So im clear the folder structure looks like:
-archive
--January
---2009-01-15
---2009-01-16
---2009-01-17
---2009-01-18
---2009-01-19
---etc....
Each of the 2009##### folders contains about 100 to 200 images. I have already deleted the actual images from the server, so just a phocagallery place holder remains. What i need to do is delete everything from the top down or some way to do it quickly without entering into each 2009##### folder to delete the images, so i can delete the category.
Does that help?

Re: Mass Delete
I was thinking the same thing last night,...
that it would be soooo nice to be able to just delete the category right from control panel (that would also delete pics inside it and it's DB references), and not have to delete it all individually.... That is a very tedious process sometimes...
Could be a plugin written for that, maybe?

Re: Mass Delete
The feature request should simply be that if I delete a category it auto deletes the images within the folder. I appreciate that this is on a development roadmap.
However, I still have this problem now. Do you have any thoughts on how to remove these without damaging the component?

i don't know if it will damage the component but try to delete the folders from the server and re-install the component... BUT i'm not shure that it's the right way to solve it.
