Thumbnails aren't created

Hey everyone,

I have a problem with Phoca Gallery: When uploading a picture, Phoca is unable to create a thumbnail for it and I have no idea why. Even if I press the button "Recreate thumbnail", I get the message "thumbnail was deleted and recreated". But in fact, the picture doesn't have a thumbnail, it's just a white box (just like before).
In addition to that, the pictures aren't displayed on the actual website. I can see the gallery there and all the pictures I uploaded are listed there, but the thumbs are not visible (only a white box) and when I click on it, I won't see the (bigger) picture.

When I use my ftp-login to the homepage, I can download the pictures and take a look at them without any problems. So they were definitely uploaded successfully, but phoca won't show any thumbs for them nor display them correctly in the gallery.

What can I do about it?
I'm using Phoca Gallery 2.7 with Joomla 1.5.14 (I know...pretty old).
Any help is appreciated!

Hi, just see similar posts:

- check if thumbnail creation is enabled in Options (see info page in Phoca Gallery administration)
- check if your GD library is working OK on your server
- check if on your server there are permissions and ownership Ok for writing files
...

Well, it isn't like I haven't been searching for a solution using google.
There are people with similar problems, but most of them got some kind of error message.
And thats exactly what's so confusing to me: It says "thumbnail was deleted and recreated", although it definitely wasn't successful.
If there is a problem with permissions for writing files etc. I should get an error message that tells me so, shouldn't I?

It worked fine some months ago and now it doesn't. My provider upgraded MySQL 5.0 to 5.1 in the meantime. May that have caused any problems?

Same problem with PG 2.3.2 and J!2.5.9.
PhocaGallery cannot show uploaded pics nor can i select one of newly uploaded pics for a new gallery entry. But Joomla media center can show the same pics phoca gallery cannot show.

Hi, try to check cache settings and of course permissions and ownership of files and folders (maybe there can be problem with writing files on the server into some folder)

Do you mean original images or thumbnails? In Phoca Gallery original images are not displayed. Check if they were created (see the thumbs folder)

Cache setting where?

I confirm that write permissions are ok and thumbnails generation is enabled. I didn't change nothing from configurations since the last time it worked, so i really can't understand why phocagallery doesn't generate thumbnails now.

Did you check the options if "automatically thumbnails creating is enabled"?

Yes I did. That option is enabled

So really no idea what can be wrong on the server - try to see errorLog (if any exists) on the server, if there is not rendered some error
