How to use image tags ?

There is nothing in the component documentation but i see a tab in Control Panel > Tags (v3.1.1) so i create a tag without assigning a category, these tags can then assigned to images be highlighted by going in the back end Control Panel > Images > Edit > Publishing Options and clicking one or more tags, then saving the image.

In the front end category view i then see under the image the tag(s) i assigned to the image in the back-end, i can click the tag and be shown images with the same tag. if i click the image itself i get the 'detail' view with the large thumbnail shown, but none of the tags are shown - is this right ?

Can the tagging be handled in the frontend as my customer will only have front end access ? They want to create new tags 'on the fly', then highlight them by category (ie auto-tag all images in a category if not already tagged) and then be able to add/remove tags on a per image basis.

Hello,

will this feature come at some time?

I need it on a webiste to let registered users tag persons on pictures.
Users should also be able to create new tags, if the person on a photo is not in the tags.

Is there someone who could programme this feature, because I don't have the time to do it. There is a budget for this.
