I was getting a blank page when I would go to "images". Or I would get a fatal error in libraries/joomla/client/ftp.php. If I turned off "enable thumbnails" the errors would go away. But, then I wouldn't have any thumbnails. no good.
What the problem was, was that I had uploaded some images to the server that were over 1mb each. And when I enabled thumbnails, Phoca Gallery was trying to create thumbnails from those large images and it would crap out.
So, I FTP'd into images/phocagallery/my directory/ and deleted all of those images. Then I resized them all to under 1mb each and then uploaded them via phocagallery. then I could enable thumbnails and place them in the correct category
Basically, I just had to get rid of the large files before I could go any further.
I hope this helps someone else.
