Upgrade Phoca Gallery 2.5.5 to 2.7.0 with Joomla! 1.5.14

I have read the documentation (https://www.phoca.cz/documents/2-phoca-g ... ca-gallery), and started the upgrade process, but could not find the 'upgrade' button. Is this because this is too old a version of Joomla!? I don't want to lose the images. According to the Joomla! documentation (http://help.joomla.org/content/view/1685/276/) there is in fact no upgrade button and it says this:

Upgrading Components:

There is no standard procedure for updating a Component. In some cases it is necessary to uninstall an existing version before adding the new. In other situations the update will be handled automatically.

It is therefore essential to read the Component developers upgrade notes - these may be enclosed in the file that is downloaded, or will be located on the developers web site.

What is going on here?
