User Control Panel: Simple Category Select

Hello,

I have a site where I'd like to allow users to upload images, but not be allowed to add new categories. Basically a simple image upload w/title with the ability to select any existing category (no subcategory). Ideally, it would be all in one tab with a dropdown for choosing the category (although I don't mind customizing the look/feel myself if I need to). Is there a way to achieve this out of the box? I have the latest version of Phoca and have created a link to the user control panel. None of the options seem to get me there, but then again there's a lot of them. I've read the docs but didn't find an answer there.

Hi,
there is no such option. But you can enable the the user upload for the categories (displayed underneath the images, in a tab). then set the user upload right in backend for those categories to permit all registered users.

Hi, thanks for your the answer. I'll give that a look. Maybe I can live with that, but I think it makes better sense and is simpler to have a central place (like a link that says "add your photo"). My PHP skills aren't great, but I may give hacking the UCP a go. If it comes out well, I'll post the files back in case anyone else is interested (though it may take me a couple of weeks to get to it).
