Uploading to Main Gallery

Post by mchmaster »

Hi. I'm using Phoca Gallery 2.6.1, and I got the user upload area working, but I can't seem to figure out how to let a user upload and create categories/subcategories within the main photo gallery. Is there a way for a user to do this from the frontend, or are they only able to create their own user categories? For example: My site has a category on cow pictures. A user wants to create a subcategory called Dairy Cows and upload pictures to it.

I was also wondering about that... I just want the user to upload picture in one common folder. No subdirectory and when the images approved by admin it will show in the main gallery... Anyone figure that out yet?

Hi, you should create menu link to UCP (user control panel) and set the parameters (enable UCP, images must be authorized, etc.)

Well, I must be missing something then, because I have UCP enabled and I can do all the uploading and stuff, but I can't seem to find a way for a user to upload pictures and assign pictures to the same categories as in the backend.

Jan, I agree with mchmaster. The users can create cat and subcat but they don't have the option to add images directly to the main gallery folder. Unless I am missing something also...

Well I think mine is a little bit different. I can make categories and subcategories and upload pictures with the UCP, but how my question is: IS IT POSSIBLE FOR A REGISTERED USER TO UPLOAD TO A PRE-EXISTING CATEGORY CREATED BY THE ADMIN USING THE UCP? I Can't seem to figure it out no matter how hard I try. Sorry to bother you with this.

Hi, you should create a category, select user folder and set that the user is owner of this category.

Jan,

That's associate the directory with only a single user then. Is that correct? How about if you want all registered users to upload to just one directory. So what I mean is that possible to make that directory the default upload directory. That way when the user try to upload picture it will not get error message "no upload directory selected" and also for admin all the pictures will show up in a single location and can be easily approved or disapproved.
