Automatically create/add new images/albums uploaded via ftp

Is this possible?

Yes, I know of the issues that may be created with ordering, titles, descriptions, etc...

I don't need any of that. I simply need to automatically add all new images when they are uploaded.

Has anyone created a cron script for this? I think that would be the perfect method for what I need, but also not to interfere with the normal function of the extension.
