I installed Phoca 2.5.8 on the latest joomla.
I have two problems:
1= how to make catagory to be displayed in multiple columns?
2 = Enable thumbnail keeps resetting itself to "No"
What I have done:
changed the thumbnail sizes: small = 100 medium=200
No mater what I do, I can't seem to set category views to show multiple columns.
For example, I set column number = 4 and played with different settings within prameter but no change.
when I clicked on menu or Tree menu, the catagory should open with multiple columns of images similar to https://www.phoca.cz/demo/gallery-catego ... wasserloch
Now all I get is one long column. Please see the link:
http://turaimages.com/component/option, ... ,category/
My another issue, the "enable thumbnail creation" reset itself to no. Each time I want to upload photos I had reset the option to "Yes"
Please give enough direction so that I can fix the column issue and the thubmnail creation but to stay "yes". Is this a bug?
By the way I spent almost 5 hour searching and reading through forum and documentation but there is no clear answer to the column issue. Some peole have asked and said "never mind I found". But please say how you solved it. It helps the Jan and others to focus on better things that answering petty questions.
cheers

It happens that some options are named very similarly. I remember I got caught on the columns thing too. Just scroll down farther and you will see another place that talks about category options for layout.
Also, if you go to Menu->Main Menu and choose what you have named for your gallery menu item, you will see on the right some options. Choose the second one down (component) and it will show you a wealth of options to choose from.
All options are available, but the naming of them could be better. I sympathize with Jan, because I'm a native .en speaker and I have a tough time coming up with labels/pref names that normal people/users will think make sense too. His job is doubly hard being .cz writing for .en -- Then again, maybe the pref names are perfect in .cz?

columns - check if you have added in parameters component, see:
https://www.phoca.cz/documents/16-joomla ... -in-joomla
I don't understand what you mean with automatically thumbnails creating (if it is enabled then thumbnails are created automaticallly, if it is disabled, no thumbnails are created) ???

Hello gemlog and Jan.
Thank you for your reply.
I have reviewed your comments above and I understand clearly how the component configuration work in Joomla. I have been using Joomla for past few years actually. My challenge with this component is, where is the specific section that I can change to set the columns numbers? I have searched and reviewed every piece of note that talks about columns on this site and forum without luck.
There are three major sections which (I think) deals with categories and thumbs. When I open my component menu link and opened the Parameter Component settings, I see:
1=Category view Settings (thumbnails)
2=Category View settings (Categories)
3=Categories view settings (Category List)
Which one of these sections deals with setting different column numbers? I feel dump spending so much time on this. Please tell me specifically which settings within these section that I need to make thumbs are appear just like Jan has on his demo site. I don't think this hard for those who have done it already. If column configuration is not within the above three sections, then where is it? I'm I will eventually figure it out but if I can tap into your experienced get this question answered I will save time and aggravation.
Thank you for help in advance.

Hi,
Categories View - list of categories, here you can set the number of columns in parameter. (in menu link to gallery)
Category View - list of images, here you cannot set columns as images are displayed in float boxes but you can do it indirect, it means you will set the fixed width for phoca gallery (parameters) and width for thumbnails and you can do columns with these settings, e.g.
width = 400
width of thumbnail 100 (+padding +margin) = 130
so 400 / 130 = cca 3 colums

Re: mistry problems that challenged newbie
Hi Jan,
following your suggestion, I did this:
Gallery size = 700
thumb = 200
But nothing happened. the images are still displayed in one column. I'm going to give up. I am not sure what I am doing wrong here. I tried all the setting one by one but no luck. If there is any last word you can throw at me, I would appreciated about this thing.
Thanks
