Cant view images or create thumbs

Up until this week I've always been able to upload images and create thumbs. The thumbnail create step is gone... It quickly just says "images added". NO matter how I upload the images.. flash uploaded, media mgr, FTP, the files are not viewable and are blank when I try to add images to a category in Phoca. I've changed all folders and images to 777, even tried to create a thumbs folder (as its not being created by phoca), removed special characters, made sure all char are lower case, its jpg NOT JPEG... At wits end here.... GD is working fine on the server and nothing has changed on the site as of lately. SO I have no clue why it broke...thoughts? FYI, I don't have access to server logs.

OK, problem solved folks.

1. upgrade to the latest version. It's easy and seems to be very stable
2. the new upgrade has a handy little button that indicates whether or not the thumbnail creation settings are enabled or disabled. How mine got turned off I have no idea. But the new version makes it clear that the setting is set to off.
