Problemms with thumbnails creating

Hi all,
I have a problem with Phoca Gallery 2.5.4 and 2.5.2 too...
When I want to create thumbnails from original photo, i give allways this report:

Error Message: Phoca Gallery cannot save files on your server
What to do now : » If you have fixed the problem caused by

* Image (wrong type or broken image) - remove the image or upload new image via e.g. FTP
* GD Library (not correctly working GD library, not working GD functions) - install or reinstall GD library
* Permissions (no rights to write files or folders) - change the permissions of image/phocagallery folders on your server,

I give up. I have changed FTP rights to 777 or 755 or another. I have turned the FTP layer ON/OFF. No change. GD library is ON on my hosting server. My hosting says that the folder images/phocagallery on their server is writable only by chmod 777.
When I installed previous ver. 2.0.2. (at the same hosting- http://www.gigahosting.sk) - there was no problem with creating thumbnails from these same photos.
I have tested the Phoca Gallery 2.5.4 on my local ver. of Joomla (XAMP server) - there was no problem.

I don´t understand where the problem is. Please help me.

i do what you write. -> Same Error! Can't create Thumbnails. The Thumbnailcreation option turn automatically of... every time...

Your advice helped me very well. When I changed Security Settings » Folder Permissions from 755 to 777 it began to go right...
My hosting provider said that for write perrmissions only 777 can be, because the server sees me (owner of domain) as "the world"....

you can go back to Phoca Gallery. Phoca Gallery will try to create the thumbnails again.

» You can close this box and solve the problem e.g. in Media Manager or via FTP.
Go to the Phoca Gallery

you can go back to Phoca Gallery. Phoca Gallery will try to create the thumbnails again.
Go to the Phoca Gallery
» If you want to go back to Phoca Gallery and you want that Phoca Gallery will not try to create thumbnails, click on
Go to the Phoca Gallery with disabling the automatic thumbnails creation
You can enable Thumbnails Creating in Default Settings again.
» If you want to fix the problem with help of Media Manager (remove the original image or upload new original image), you can go to the Media Manager.

Hi, on your server, it seems that the function ImageCreateFromGIF is disabled

The GD function ImageCreateFromGIF doesn't work on your server

It needs to be enabled there.

I've tried different images. JPG and PNG.
Ive tried chmodding phocagallery/thumbs and found out its set to CHMOD 0 which i cant change using the FTP client as it gives me 550: permissions denied.
I have tried installing phoca galley on the same server in a different joomla and ive walked into the same problem.

This sounds like a server issue. the question is what do i tell my host. i remember having older versions of phoca gallery working fine on the same host.

P.S ive also tried setting the permission parameteer in phoca backend to 777.

You or your webhoster should:

- check permissions
- check ownership of files and folders (if ftp layer is enabled, then they should have the ownership of ftp)
- check GD settings
- Not recommended but you can try to set 777 (only for testing) for parameters and the main folder, see:
