Navigation buttons

I'm obviously doing something dreadfully wrong and I'm sure you've already answered this but I coudn't find any reference in the forum. I recently installed the gallery. I have two questions:

1. Can you change the size of the display image or does it remain at 640 width
2. I have somehow deactivated the navigation buttons and can't find how to reavtivate them. Can you please tell me how to do this?

The buttons are only available in the modal box view

Note that if you increase the size of the image, you should also increase the size of the Front Detail Window. I also found that you need to be sure the height is at lease 50-75px higher than the image to leave room for the buttons. I set my Large Image at 900x675 and the Window at 940x750 and it works fine.
