Problem with generated thumbnail filesizes. Please Help...

Hello, prior to uploading my photos, I resized all of them to 640x480 (large thumbnail setting in globals) so that they would not be resized nor compressed in any way during the "large" thumbnail generation process. However, after the thumbnails are generated, the filesize of the image increases significantly. I have one image that is 640x480 with a filesize of 80 KB which goes to a massive 200 KB after large thumbnail generation even though the resolution remains 640x480 pixels. This results in the photo loading too long in the frontend of my site. Is there any way to leave the original filesize?. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your reply, however I do not see any option titled "create mini-images" in the parameter settings. To make sure, I had my browser search for the terms "mini" and it didn't find anything. Were you refering to the global parameters, or is there a different place this particular setting needs to be adjusted?

I have turned off thumbnail cropping but unfortunately the images are still being transformed into larger filesizes. Is there any other possible solution for this? Thanks.

I have already done a whole bunch of times but for some reason the filesizes are still increasing. Perhaps I should just upload the large thumbnails manually...
