Hide empty albums for non-uploaders

Is it possible to hide the empty albums in my category list for everybody except for the people that have rights to upload in that album? Often I have to already create an album for an event so that members can upload all there photo's in there. I don't want them to make their own categories/folders, because this will create a mess over time. But untill somebody uploaded the first image it displays an empty album which is of no use and doesn't look that nice.

So I would like to hide the empty albums for everybody except the one's that have upload rights. (same idea as the front-end java uploader).

Can this be done with easy coding?
