Error saving category

Post by reko »

hi,
i'm getting an error when trying to edit an existing category: "Fehler beim speichern der Phoca Gallery Kategorie(n)" and the changes (eg. change of the category name) is not saved.
since i use the german version i don't know the exact english warning message, but it should be something like "error saving categories".

I upgraded to joomla 1.5.10 (from 1.5.9) and phoca gallery 2.2.3 (i think from 2.1.0) yesterday - maybe this is the reason for the error??

Can somebody help?

/EDIT: same thing for creating galleries (backend) new categories are not created :?

thanks,
/rk

Hi,

in 2.2.0 two columns are added to the Phoca gallery tables. It might be possible that those queries weren't executed in your upgrade.

See: https://www.phoca.cz/documents/2-phoca-g ... em-solving

Track 1 - last 2 lines

thank you carolien for your reply! yes the two columns where missing and i added them as described (is it right to add them just to the X_phocagallery -table?). but it didn't resolve the problem, it's still the same.

What might the reason (and i forgot to mention this before - sorry): when installing the 2.2.3 version id didn't see the page where you can choose between upgrade and install (the 2 buttons) - i just got a blank screen... so maybe there where some scripts that were not executed???

any suggestions?? i already tried to install it again (after adding the 2 columms) and again got a blank screen..

Hi,

try to upgrade via FTP, especially if you updated the tables already.

For upgrade via FTP see: https://www.phoca.cz/documents/2-phoca-g ... ca-gallery
(or step 1 till 5 of track 2 in the link I supplied in my previous message)

i did that too, but nothing changed, i even got another error while trying to install the ftp-install-file:
in red:
* JInstaller::install: Die Datei „/.../www/tmp/install_49d1d52a17878/install.phocagallery.php” existiert nicht!
* Komponente Installieren: Die PHP-Installationsdatei konnte nicht kopiert werden!

and in blue:
* Installiere Komponente Fehler
and again the buttons for upgrading and installing are not displayed...

i really don't know what could be the reason for this??
does it make sense de-installing the entire component and doing an new installation? (and inserting the existing data back into the database afterwards?)

EDIT: sorry forgot the translation: in red JInstaller::install: The file ... does not exist!
installing component: the PHP-installation file could not be copied!

and in blue: Error installing component

EDIT 2: some more information:
the folder "tmp/install_49d1d52a17878" does not exist, and every time i try to install the com_phocagallery-ftp-install.zip the numbers in the folders name change. when/where should this folder be created??

Hi,

please ignore the part 'upgrade via joomla installer' and read the part 'upgrade via ftp'.

So unpack the installation package on your pc, and ftp/upload the files to the right folders, mentioned in the link.

Hi,

if you uploaded all the files via FTP, and you changed the database, then the upgrade should be succesfull. Could you try to create categories again?

thank you for trying to help us, we really appreciate your efforts!

but we're still getting the same error as in my first post: we cannot save categories.

i did add the 2 fields (extlink1, extlink2) to the x_phocagallery table and upload all files via ftp (overwriting the existing ones), and i tryed to install the ftp-install file (but without success, see above).

To the correct folders I assume

You don't need to do that, because the Phoca Gallery menu entry is already available in the backend.

I still don't know why you aren't able to create categories
