Hi,
if you enable 'Debug Language' in your Joomla! Global Configuration, will you receive any errors in front or backend?

Kind regards,
Benno

Hi Benno

Nothing obvious. Where should I be looking for errors?

Thanks

Hi Gareth,

https://cloud.githubusercontent.com/ass ... 7b403b.gif

It seems, you have parsing errors in language files. Which Joomla Version are you using?
Because: https://docs.joomla.org/J3.x:Changes_in ... le_loading

Check also, if: parse_ini_file is enabled. Should not be disabled. Maybe you can ask your hoster.
Correct / actual Language is installed?

Kind regards
Christine

Thank-you Christime

I see these errors:

**Not loaded** : JROOT/language/en-GB/en-GB.tpl_js_unlimited.ini
**Not loaded** : JROOT/templates/js_unlimited/language/en-GB/en-GB.tpl_js_unlimited.ini
**Not loaded** : JROOT/language/en-GB/en-GB.com_phocagallery.ini
**Not loaded** : JROOT/components/com_phocagallery/language/en-GB/en-GB.com_phocagallery.ini

Hi,
**Not loaded** : JROOT/language/en-GB/en-GB.com_phocagallery.ini
That's the problem!

Two ideas:
1.) If you have the option to do this, lower PHP to 7.2 or 7.3.
2.) If the problem persists afterwards, switch to the Joomla! Protostar standard templatefor testing.

Thanks Benno

The language error
**Not loaded** : JROOT/language/en-GB/en-GB.com_phocagallery.ini
has gone. Downgraded PHP to 7.2 and changed template as suggested - still the same. Its a personal site rather than a pro site so I'm prepared to live with the bug.

Thanks for all your help

Hi, hmm, testing now on Joomla! 3.9.14 and PHP 7.4.1. I see no problem there:

So it seems, there PHP version should not be problem there.

So, as Benno wrote, the problem is not loading the language file, but why Joomla! does not load it on your site, it is really hard to say. :-( Phoca Gallery itself does not manage the loading of language files on the site, so in fact, for now I don't have any experiences with such problem

Only for test, try to switch to some other template - only to test it (some templates overrides the component output, sometimes the overrides can be obsolete or include error).
