Dear Jan/all,
Only recently I created my first site in Joomla (http://www.bymo.nl). It is a site about photography and therefore I was looking for a good photo presentation tool. This seemes to be one of the best photo gallery software around, thank you for that!
Although configuring the gallery was quite easy I am running into a problem. On my category overview pages I end up with medium sized thumbs, exactly the way I like it:
http://www.bymo.nl/index.php?option=com ... &Itemid=55
But on the actual gallery page, with the actual pictures, I would prefer smaller thumbnails. Therefore I set the number of collumns to three. But still only two collumns remain with the medium sized thumnails in stead of the small ones as shown on this page:
http://www.bymo.nl/index.php?option=com ... &Itemid=55
Am I doing something wrong here? I read the documentation over and again but I fail to see the solution. Any help will be gratefully received! I am using version 2.1.0 RC. Thanks.
Best regards,
Maurice Hendriks

Re: Problem with columns / thumbnails
Hi,
the number of columns doesn't involve any scaling of images. The number of columns is restricted by the width of the box in the template.
I suggest you'd do the following to create the setup you want:
- On your category overview page you'd use the categories view with the 'small thumbnails'.
- In the gallery you'd use the category view with the 'medium thumbnails'.
You set the small thumbnails to the bigger size - so in reality those thumbs are bigger than the medium thumbs.

I hope you understand my solution

Re: Problem with columns / thumbnails
Hi Carolien/all,
Strange, I replied to this post a few days ago and it seemes to be vanished!? Anyway, my reply was like this:
From the beginning I have been uploading images with creating both small (150 px) and medium (250 px) thumbnails. So they are all available. What is unclear to me, is how to select small thumbnails or the medium ones. Every option which comes close to what I think it should do, doesn't work. The thumbs remain at the medium format. So my question is this: which button or option do I select in the menu in order to get the small thumbnails? Somehow I don't find it... Thanks!
Cheers, Maurice.

Re: Problem with columns / thumbnails
Hi,
when you create a menu you can select different types of menu. One is category layout (with medium thumbs) the other is category list layout (with small thumbs). So you 'select' the type of thumbs by selecting the type of menu and layout.
I hope it's clear.

Re: Problem with columns / thumbnails
Hi Carolien,
Thank you again for replying. I think I wasn't clear enough as your answer is exactly the other way around...
What I would like to realise is medium sized thumbnails in the category view list, which I already have:
http://www.bymo.nl/index.php?option=com ... &Itemid=55
So I am happy with that. But...:
What doesn't seem to succeed, is getting small thumbnails on the images page of a certain category as shown here:
http://www.bymo.nl/index.php?option=com ... &Itemid=55
By getting small thambnails here, I can show more images per page and avoid getting too many pages to show the pics in that certain catergory. On top of that I think gives a better look/overview.
So: how to get small thumbnails on my images page? I can't realise that with the 'category view list layout' option, can I?
Cheers, Maurice.

Re: Problem with columns / thumbnails
No,
what I meant: set the small thumbs to a bigger size than the medium thumbs. (so turn it around)
So the name 'small thumb' is in reality a bigger thumb than the 'medium thumb'.
Then instead of your Gallery overview page with a category layout, you create a category list layout. Or use the phoca gallery plugin if you want to have some text added. https://www.phoca.cz/phocagallery-plugin/ (use phocagallery view=categories)
