image folder copied thru ftp not visible

I have been using Phoca gallery from quiet some time and it is a very wonderful component. Specially the feature of uploading folder with mages into image/phocagalley folder and adding all images through multiple add.
But all of a sudden, I am not able to view the folders copied through ftp in images/phocagallery. I do not what has happened. All earlier folders are visible.
To be more clear:
1. Sppose I copied forlder test (with few images inside) through ftp in image/phocagallery.
2. Now when I go to multiple add, all folders in images/phocagallery should be visible. But now this test folder is not visible.

Can someone help me in sorting out the problem.

how's the folders name concretly? Names of files and folders are critical (special characters, spaces ...)?
