Error when uploading in frontend

Good day

I've been searching the forum for a solution but so far I've only been able to find fixes joomla 1.5. and those didn't help.

I'm trying to upload images to the front end of the site under each category, when I upload I get the error "Error while saving item"
When I try and upload the image again I get the error "image already exists"

I'm using joomla 3.6.0

I can't locate the "uploaded" image in the phoca gallery admin control panel.

I wasn't able to update the component due to a -1 error, but I found a fix for my problem. Image names containing capital letters gives an error to save message on upload.
