hello,
I have same problem. I have over 100 categories. Now, if I want add images, which was uploaded to web page by ftp, its shows me Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 5 seconds exceeded in /++++/++++/public/www_root/administrator/components/com_phocagallery/helpers/phocagallery.php on line 964. I cant upload any image, thumbnail creatting dont function, still shows this error. I have hosting on Slovak DOMAINS. I have crop thumbnail set to NO. Im using 2.1.0 RC galery component.

Hi,
go to your php.ini and increase the maximum execution time. I think 5 seconds is very short (my website is set to 30).
If you cannot modify this, then ask your webhost.

If I increase the maximum execution time to 30 its dont help. I must set paggination in setup gallery and its help. Problem was solved. And phoca works great.
