Re: Cant install Phoca in joomla1.5.8
I am having the exact same problem with 1.5.8 I am a new Joomla user, so I have installed the latest version, other modules seem to install fine, but not Phoca
I have tried to ftp the install directory to /tmp and install from there and get the same error as if I upload the zip.
I have even gone into the MySQL and added the relevant information there.
Is there any other way to install?
Cheers
Cris.

Re: Cant install Phoca in joomla1.5.8
Looks like this could be a server problem. I changed my max execution time in php.ini to a much higher number (180 I think) and I can now install ok.
Hope this solves your problem too.

Re: Cant install Phoca in joomla1.5.8
I'm having the same problem, even on my local installation with MAMP. After trying to install I get a blank page. When I go back, Phoca has not been installed. Changing the php.ini did not help.
Can I install it manually?

You can install extensions in Joomla! manually:
- copy the files from ZIP
- run the sql queries from install.bak files (you find this file in ZIP root)
- but Joomla! installation creates a menu link to component, so I don't know how manually create such menu in Joomla!
