Please Help - How to Hide Pagination and Center a Gallery

Post by Ruthyruth »

Hello!
I'm running PhocaGallery 4.2.2 on Joomla 3.5.1

Following Benno's recommendation, I updated Joomla and Phoca Gallery, but this has not solved my problems. Thank you to everyone in advance for any guidance or/and instructions you could share with me.

I want the Phoca Gallery menu item to lead to a page showing all of the images in a category with no pagination.

For the menu item I select "Phoca Gallery Category Layout" ("This layout shows a list of all the Phoca Gallery Images within a particular Category"). Under basic parameters of the menu item I select "Hide" for everything. Here is a screen shot:

On the front end when I click on the menu item it leads to a category icon rather than the images in the category. Here is a screen shot:

But that is not what I want. I want the menu item link to show a page with the contents of the gallery without pagination. Pagination is another problem. In spite of selecting "Hide" for the menu item basic parameters, and also setting "Hide" in the backend global parameters, the pagination still shows up when the gallery images are displayed. Here is a screen shot:

Also, I would like to have the images "centered" on the page, but I can not find any way to do that - only "Left" or "Right" in a drop down on the menu item parameters.

I have looked through the documentation, and I have searched the forums and have not been able to find anything that addresses my concerns. If anyone knows of past posts relating to these subjects, or/and can provide some advice as to how to solve my problems, I'd be very grateful.

Thank you again in advance for your assistance.

Kind regards,
RR

Hi,

centered images - for centering, you need to set fixed size of Phoca Gallery:
https://www.phoca.cz/documents/2-phoca-g ... e-joomla-3

Phoca Gallery Width Set the fixed width of the Phoca Gallery box (in px)
Phoca Gallery Center (Yes (Category View) | Yes (Categories View) | Yes (Category and Categories View) | No) If Phoca Gallery Width is set to some fixed width, Phoca Gallery site can be centered (Category View)

The first screenshot - did you create a menu link to category view - this seems to be a categories view?

Hello Jan!
Thank you for your reply and suggestions.

However, I was not able to center the gallery categories or the images inside the galleries, nor was I able to remove/hide pagination and the ordering drop-down lists.

I was confused by your suggestion on setting the width because I understood what your wrote after that was to set the center to "Yes", but then you wrote if I set a width then choose "No". So I tried both and neither worked for me. These are the settings that I chose:

and also

In both cases, this is what the results look like when displaying the categories:

and this is what an individual gallery looks like with the above settings:

These are my menu item settings:

and

I can not find any other settings to position the categories and the gallery contents to center. Also, I can not find any settings to remove the pagination and ordering pull-downs. What else can I do?

Thank you in advance for any advice you can share with me.

Regards,
RR

Hi RR,
Following Benno's recommendation, I updated Joomla and Phoca Gallery, but this has not solved my problems.
When checking (found via google) the URL of Brian Thomas .... It's Joomla Version 1.5.18. Because the 1st screenshot looks an older Phocagallery Version with legacy parameters and is not responsible. You could remove the pagination with:

Code: Select all

#phocagallery .pgcenter, #phocagallery-upload .pgcenter, #phocagallery-subcategory-creating .pgcenter {
    text-align: center;
    vertical-align: middle;
    display: none;
}
Or did you make a migration from J 1.5 to 2.5 and update from 2.5 to 3.5 on a sub-domain?
Current version of PG is now: 4.3.0

Kind regards, Christine

Hello Christine!
Thank you for your reply.

My bad! My problem shifted to another website (not Brian Thomas - who refuses to update from J1.5). The website in question is www,de-ludemann.com It is still under construction, but I will set it to public so you can have a look if you like. It is the latest Joomla / Phoca version combo.

Thank you for the pagination code. Where should I put that? In the joomla index.php, or elsewhere?

If you have any suggestions on centering the galleries and the contents of the galleries, I'd be very grateful.

Thank you again for your time and attention.

Hi RR,
we have to "split" the questions, as different procedures etc. between J 1.5 and J 3.5

1) J 1.5

J 1.5 above code belongs to the old version! Mostly to be set in: template.css at the end of the CSS.
Your client should update to 1.5.26 plus migrate to J 2.5.28 incld. security patches.

PG tables have to be also migrated. See: https://www.phoca.cz/documents/50-phoca/ ... o-joomla-3

2) J 3.5
The website in question is www,de-ludemann.com It is still under construction, but I will set it to public so you can have a look if you like. It is the latest Joomla / Phoca version combo.

a) categories view: Did you enable „lecagy mode“ ? Because it'looks like (previous PG view) as in tables) showing 2 columns with width of 33% each.

Either you change the width of the columns, or you disable the (old) legacy view.
You could load the new responsive PG theme!
Instead of beez3 you could use the standard template: Protostar.
Beez3 or Protostar, you should also make a copy of the template, otherwise all changes will be lost after Core update. Next week J 3.6 is planned.

b) above last screenshot (about the pagination) does not belong to PG.

Please check also: phocagallery > options https://www.phoca.cz/documents/2-phoca-g ... e-joomla-3

or to put following code, at the end of personal.css (for beez3):

Code: Select all

.pagination.pagination-centered {
display:none;
}
Kind regards, Christine
