Hello to All,
I'm hoping you guys and gals can help me out with a 3 day issue I've been having. I am using Phoca Gallery 2.8.0 with Joomla 1.5.22. To my understanding the Category Layout menu type page displays "medium size" thumbnails by default? Ok cool, is there a way to change this default size to Small like the "Categories" layout menu type? I've already resized the default medium size in the global parameters in the backend to various sizes for testing, so I understand the concept, but the problem is I also have the "Easy Slider" module on my site which once again by default uses the "medium" size thumbnail dimensions, so I can't change medium size to 75 X 75 (example) on the category layout page, without changing the size of the Easy Slider module.
Would REALLY appreciate some help on this.

Re: Phoca Gallery Category Layout Thumbnail Size
Hi, you can use medium or small in categories view and medium in category view.
If you are using images for some module, just create specific category with specific size for them and disable such category to be viewed in Phoca Gallery, so it will be displayed only in the module.

Re: Phoca Gallery Category Layout Thumbnail Size
HI Jan,
Thanks for the response, when you say "just create specific category with specific size for them....." are you saying I should create this category in Phoca Gallery component backend? Do you know if this will work for the "easy slider" module, because this module defaults to the medium size dimensions of Phoca Gallery thumbnails
Also I need to use small for category view, is this possible and if so how?
Thanks

Hi, you can set the size in parameters of component, and then (re)create the thumbnails, so it will take effect. Phoca Gallery slideshow modules take the large thumbnail to display it in slideshow, if this is an external slideshow plugin/module then I cannot say where it takes the images

Re: Phoca Gallery Category Layout Thumbnail Size
Thanks Jan, but my biggest issue is the external slideshow you speak of, which is the "Easy Slider" module, it pulls the medium size thumbnail size from Phoca Gallery. My problem is that when a user creates a category page for a gallery, by default 2.8.0 pulls the medium size thumbnail dimensions, that's fine I can change those parameters but this will also change how the Easy Slider Module displays its slideshow.

Hi Jan, I also would like to be able to change the size of image displayed in category view. How come you can select image size for categories, but not category? Surely its a small enhancement to add this? Would be very helpful - thank you!

Re: Phoca Gallery Category Layout Thumbnail Size
namford it can be done via a template override.
A very quick solution:
copy file
components/com_phocagallery/views/category/tmpl/default_images.php
to your template
templates/yourtemplate/com_phocagallery/category/default_images.php
And in line in line 9 after
add
This will replace medium to small image. But CSS adjust is still needed.
Jan, what if I try update to update your code to allow select image size for the Category View? Will you implement my changes?

Re: Phoca Gallery Category Layout Thumbnail Size
Hi, I don't understand, if there is a need to have small images in category view, why not set the size of medium thumbnails to same size like small thumbnails have? In Options of Phoca Gallery without any need to change the code?
If I need e.g. 100x100 image in category view, it does not matter if it is medium or small, important is, it has 100x100

Re: Phoca Gallery Category Layout Thumbnail Size
Jan, I don't remember the situation, but I had to regenerate hundreds of photos because I started from am wrong s-m-l distribution. Several times. That was because I simply could not switch from M to S or L in the category view.
As for me, it's not hard to implement but gives a great bonus to flexibility. Surely it's not critical, but a little annoying. And this can be easily fixed without any additional CPU/Memory load.
