Access control for image

Post by DirkMu »

Hi Jan,

is it possible to implement an access control for an indivdual image instead of the whole category? Except from this, in my opinion, missing feature thi si s the best gallery for Joomla.

Thanks.

Kind regards
Dirk

Hi, just create a category and paste only one image there...

I can add the permissions for images into the feature requests, Jan

Hi Jan,

Yes I know I can do that but this isn't what I am looking for. I want to have one category with pictures which can be seen without logging in and in the same category a few (more or less) pictures that can only bees seen if you are logged in. All of them belonging to the same category as they belong together but some pictures are not supposed to be public.

Hope you got my point.

Thanks for putting this request to the feature request list. Can't wait to have it.

Kind regards
Dirk

Hi,

and what about creating a subcategory - with only access for registered/certain users?

Hi Carolien,

just imagine you take pictures in a certain sequence and that sequence is important but there a few pictures that should only be visible to certain people as they are present on that or those picture(s) but they don't want be in the WWW. So the best solution is to allow access to those pictures for those peoples only. All the other pictures can be public. I don't want to split a set of pictures which belong togehter and for which the sequence can be interesting or important into different categorie/subcategories.

Got my point?

But it is defenitively an alternative. Thanks for the hint.

Kind regards
Dirk

Hi

Any news about this interesting idea: to give access control to some chosen pictures????

That would be really great

No news there, as the checkin on category permissions takes a lot time and performance I think, this is not possible for images as then the server will only do checking permission nothing more  :(
