directories with images created, sees them, won't access
I have two parent categories each with 5 child categories, all with images. When I access CATEGORIES and click NEW, it show me the existing folders. When I click on a directory it says it doesn't exist. and to create a folder. When I name a folder and click create, it _ _ the new folder. I click on that new folder and it says it doesn't exist. I cannot go anywhere with this component.

Hi, which version of Phoca Gallery you are using?
I don't understand this: "When I access CATEGORIES and click NEW, it show me the existing folders" Where? Which folder you exactly mean? Can you paste a screenshot of what you exactly mean?

Re: directories with images created, sees them, won't access
Version v4.4.2.2
I uninstalled the component. Renamed the phocagallery image directory I had created with the the 2 parent directories and all the child folders with the images already ftp'd so the new installation could create a new image directory. I then created a new category named family - checked with FTP to see that it created it. Then tried first to create a child as a new category, but when I clicked on parent, it would not show the Family folder I just created.

When I click on the new family folder

When I try new category and try to use the new FAMILY folder as parent - doesn't show up

On my first install, I created the folders in Phocagallery images and the childs inside each parent. It let me select and install half of the child folders and upload the images, then when I tried the other folders, I got the does not exist message. That is why I uninstalled and re-installed.

Re: directories with images created, sees them, won't access
Hi, see:
https://www.phoca.cz/documents/2-phoca-g ... categories
Folders are not categories, subfolders are not subcategories.
If you use multiple add funtion, it translates folders to categories and subfolders to subcategories. But the category don't have to be paired with folder. It means, you can create a category which do not have any folder and includes images which are stored in other folder.
Sot it does not mean that if there is folders structure: Cat -> SubCat -> SubSubCat that the category tree is the same.
Multiple add function creates the same structure like folder structure for categories. But it is import function, so if you change something, then the folder structure will be not the same like category structure.
To define subcategories or parentcategories - you need to set them in Category edit. If there is no in select box, you need to create some category (e.g. with multiple add function - then the categories will be the same like folders) or with another feature - Categories - New.
In Phoca Gallery, there is an independent way how to handle database and filesystem layer - they are not paired.
