Categories Missing From Front

I'm confused

I have some categories and subcategories set-up in /images/phocagallery/

When I go in the backend and add the images they seem to all be added as well as all the categories. The issue that I am having is that when I view the front end only a few categories are showing. I removed everything and tried again but I am still getting the same result.

I am not sure what is wrong.

Hi, what you mean with "a few categories"

When you add folders and subfolders, they become categories and subcategories, and e.g. in categories view only main (parent) categories are displayed (when set in Options)

When I say a few categories I mean that I have about 20 categories listed here: /images/phocagallery/ but only about 4 are showing on the front end.

Please see the settings that I have. They appear to be correct.

Display Subcategories: No
Display Empty Categories: No

hv also checked your URL, there is no PG (?)

I only want the main categories to show on that page and when you click on a main category it displays the subcategories. When I change Display Subcategories = YES it does show all subcategories which is correct but that is not how I want it displayed.

I also don't want empty categories to show. And I do not have any categories that are empty so they should all be showing.

What is PG?

aha, OK. So, then there must be another reason ...

PG = Phocagallery and during checking your URL, there was no PG seen. Would be useful to active, to see what the reasons could be for non-showing your categories.

When I choose "display empty categories = yes", I can now see all the categories.

I think that that is misleading because I assumed that it will show categories that do not have any content and I did not want that. I did not realize that that is what I need to select to display the categories.

Maybe there should be two options: one that says "display categories" and one that says "display empty categories", the latter would display even when it's empty. Just my 2 cents
