Creating Category from Folder on Server

Apologies for a "newbie" question but I cannot find the answer in the User Manual.

I already have all of my images in folders on my server from previous use of the images, organised into folders under ../joomla30/images/. In the "Concepts" page of the User Manual it suggests that a category can be created from the images in a folder on the server but I cannot find how this can be done. All of the forms that I have visited so far only offer me the option to Upload image files - but they are all already there.

Also, the user manual suggests that images can be in multiple categories but I am not clear how this is achieved when it seems the category is lined to a folder.

Go to: Components » Phoca Gallery » Images » and click on [Multiple Add] button. Now you are in Phoca Gallery [Multiple Add]. You can select the images or folder you want to add to the gallery here. If you select a folder and this folder contains subfolders and images, Phoca Gallery creates Category from selected folder, Subcategory from included subfolder and adds all the included images into this Category (Subcategory).

Thanks for the quick reply but I must be missing the point here. When I go to Add or Multiple Add I am only offered the option to "Upload" so the only folders visible are those on my laptop. What I was hoping was to be able to see the images which are already in folders on my web server. I cannot see any option to show these folders so is my only option to Upload second copies of the image files which are aleady on my server?

Hi Tim,

See:
Choose one or more or all folders insite /images/phocagallery/ and press Save & Close button.
All categories & subcategories and included images (thumbnails) will be created automaticly.
Note, the image shows the content of my server..

OK thanks: I think understand now. I can create a category from images which are in a phocagallery folder but not if there are in a folder outside of that tree. I had misunderstood and thought I might be able to pull them in from other folders on the server.
