Hello,
First of all, congratulations for your job and the very active support I can see here.
I read the documentation but I couldn't determine if Phoca Gallery can meet my (specific?) needs.
I am currently migrating my pure html/php website to Joomla(3). I already use HighslideJS on my php/html website and I would like to reproduce the same behavior.
Specifically:
Imagine a page (an article) presenting a collection of books (say up to 50 books: that would be 50 galleries as per Phoca glossary).
Each book cover would be shown as a thumbnail (with book text description below).
A clic on a thumbnail opens the full-size image of that book cover, plus the other pages of that specific book (when available).
Currently (on my html/php site), I did it with HighslideJS + one subfolder per book.
Question : can I make Phoca Gallery work this way in Joomla 3?
Context: thumbnails displayed in the joomla article (manually inserted in order to be able to choose the order and to add the description text for each) and enlarged images displayed "on top" of the article (no module). Looks like "modal box" from the Phoca demo page (automatic slideshow can be removed?)
If needed, I can provide a link to a page of my current website to illustrate what I want to do.
Thanks for your help
Is Phoca Gallery suited for my needs?

Hi, not sure what you exactly mean with: "A clic on a thumbnail opens the full-size image of that book cover, plus the other pages of that specific book"
- In Phoca Gallery you can display more icons below image: one e.g. to display the detail (large image) and you can set external link so this can link to specific site about the book, something like here:

Re: Is Phoca Gallery suited for my needs?
Hi Jan,
Example of my current configuration using HighslideJS on my hand-coded static website:
blackholesun.fr/RC_Tamiya_Books_US.php
Scroll for the first batch of book covers.
Clic the 1979 cover: it opens full size and then you can parse the rest of the pages from that book.
Clic the 1981 cover: it opens full size, but no other pages are available.
Other example : blackholesun.fr/RC_Tamiya58000_US.php
Clic either one of the first 2 big posters images: they open the same "gallery" containing both full-size posters.
This what I mean by "clic the thumbnail to open the full size". Also, you can see that there are multiple different galleries on the pages.
Is Phoca Gallery capable of doing this? (I know it may be a specific behavior).
Thanks,
Pascal

Hi, just see:
https://www.phoca.cz/documents/2-phoca-g ... d-glossary
In Phoca Gallery you have categories view, category view (there you can run highslide js) and image view. Phoca Gallery is free, so you can download it and test if it can meet your needs.

Re: Is Phoca Gallery suited for my needs?
Hi,
After some tests, conclusion is that my needs are too exotic compared to what Phoca is meant for (and does very well).
It might be possible to tune Phoca hard enough to meet my needs, but I think using a solution for what it is not meant for is a risk that said solution won't work as updates are made. And such a "hard tuning" would probably be beyond my skills.
Nonetheless, Phoca will probably serve my needs if I decide to host my own photo gallery instead of using Google/FlickR.
Thanks for the help.
