Cannot make upload work

I am adding phoca gallery to a choir website and wish members to upload their photos.

I have been trying everything and cannot get the upload working. I have looked through previous posts and see the same problem but without any solution.
I recently deleted all categories and started over. I login with a username and try to upload in image. It seems to create a category but I still get the:

"There is no category where to upload images. First create a category please.
If your category is created and you cannot upload images then ask administrator:

if you have permission to upload images into the main category
if you are owner of the main category
if the user upload folder is set for your main category."

Please help - I am ready to try a different program if this does not work.

Hi, in frontend, in UCP, there are other rules for upload in comparison to backend upload. If user wants to upload to his/her category, such needs to be created in frontend (main folder will be automatically created) or in backend - the folder needs to be assigned.

From the front end "Add to image gallery":

1 - It shows the user just fine
2 - Main category has been created
3 - I did not create a subcategory
4 - All I get in image folder is:
"There is no category where to upload images. First create a category please.
If your category is created and you cannot upload images then ask administrator:

if you are owner of the main category
if the user upload folder is set for your main category."

In the backend, I can see the category created, it is public, published, authorized, & owned by user.

How do I proceed?

More info - I just found that it works if I log in as superuser - how do I configure for users with lesser access?

Hi, check if the user or the user group has rights to upload or delete in the category

In Phoca Gallery Options > permissions – The superuser has everything enabled and also the lowest registered group has everything enabled (guest has nothing enabled)
I also went to ACL Manager > manage user group permissions > choir members (my group) > found phoca gallery and everything was green & enabled
I saw delete enabled but not upload - where would you enable upload?

I did not actually see anywhere to check the rights to upload or delete in the category - where do I do that?

Please help - I cannot seem to get a good response.

I have 3 versions of this site, 1 on a local test site in wamp folder, one in a test subdirectory on a live site & one in its own permanent domain.

Problem is I get:

when I try to upload in UCP.

1 - I put a new Phoca install on the test file in the wamp folder on my computer & EVERYTHING WORKED FINE.
2 - I put a new Phoca install uploaded on the test site in subfolder on live site AND IT DID NOT WORK -(but it does work when signed in as superuser)
3 - I put a new Phoca install uploaded on the permanent site AND IT DID NOT WORK -(but it does work when signed in as superuser)

Something is changing when it is installed on a live working site - do you have any idea? I am about ready to give up. The program looks real good but I cannot make it work! Please help

Hi, really not sure which differences there can be.

- To upload or create subcategory in UCP

- you need to create main category directly in UCP as an user - to have the option to make the subcategories or to upload images
- but if you create category for the user in administration - you need to set specific parameters for it - set the folder on the server which will be assigned to this category - set the permissions for the user - and set the user as owner - so these 3 parts needs to be done in case user don't create the main category in frontend but someone prepres it for him/her in administration.
