categories filter in admin interface broken

Hi,

could it be that the filter in the admin interface for categories is broken?

If I search something it seems nothing is found - even if I copy the name from the category. the filter only finds the category if it is a root category, but not it the category is on level two or below of the hierarchy tree.

this happens since i upgraded from version 2.3 to version 2.6.2

Could you repro this?
( I have >700 categories and without the search (filter) I can only search by showing all and search by the browser - and this is a little bit slow)

thanks
hannes

Hannes,

This isn't an answer unfortunately, but just some friendly "support" because the same thing happens for me (using 2.6.2, my initial installation).

I have categories such as the follwing:

Animals
Animals -> Dog
Animals -> Dog -> Zoe

and when I filter on "animals" I only get "Animals" (the first category) and not any of the others. If I search on "Zoe" I get nothing in my list.

As a very closely related sidenote it would be AWESOME if we could have a drop-down for "Parent Category" in the categories list right next to the drop-down list for the "state" (Published/Unpublished). That would be a HUGE help in the admin interface.

Regards,
Rob

Jan, could you confirm this as an bug in version 2.6.2?

Because I know that it was working at earlier versions.

Best Regards
Hannes

Hi, no idea there (no idea if the behaviour was other in previous versions) but maybe as I have optimized all the sql queries, it can happen, that because of the optimization the filter can find only the root categories (but I think, this limit was in previous version too :idea: )

I will take a look at it. (but I think for now there is no solutio for this :-( )
