Error loading Modules:MySQL server has gone away

Hiya,
using most recent version of phoca gallery and most recent version of Joomla 1.5
Website thats experiencing the issue is http://www.razedinflames.com.au and the page that has phoca component working is http://www.razedinflames.com.au/razedin ... re-gallery
I am in love with phoca gallery but have just stumbled upon a severe problem. whenever i set it to display more that 5 photos at once i get this massive error taking up half my screen it reads as below

When i change the pagination to 5 its fine but if i ask it to display 10, 20, 50, or 100 the error message comes up. The strange thing is tho, the photos are displayed at the bottom of the page with no modules visible... go figure. (i am very much noob btw)
