How to complete uninstall phoca gallery from Joomla?

Hey all,
I gave phoca a try today on my Joomla 1.5, was surprised about options and performance and then...BOOM!
After trying to move some pictures to another sub-cat, Firefox gave out an error because the server ended up in an endless loop while trying to access the gallery from mainmenu.
I tried several undos, deleted my pics, folders, categories, nothing helped. After that, I uninstalled the component from Joomla (had to use the ftp-way for installing), deleted the folders on my server and started all over again by copying the files to my server and then run the ftp-component-install in Joomla.
To my surprise, I always get a "SQL-file missing or not readable. DB functions report no error"-message, and the component is not available in Joomla. Tried to manually fix the sql-tables (there were no phoca-entries in my sql-database!), re-run the ftp-install, but still the same message. Again, manually deleting the files/directories from the server didn´t help.
So now I want to find out how to "erase" phoca from my installation to install it from scratch. Looks like something´s still in the system, blocking any new installs of phoca...
Any ideas?
Thanks a lot!
