I understand we are to update to Phoca Maps 6.1.0 to patch a security vulnerability. However, when updating the component to 6.1.0 on Joomla 5.x sites, the maps break.

It appears there is no update for the Phoca Maps Content Plugin which also needs to be updated. I only see 6.0.2 available for download instead of 6.1.0.
I do see the 5.1.0 version, but we need the 6.1.0 version.

Hi, the problematic part was in component, so such was fixed, but nothing changed regarding plugin, so the old version plugin can work with newest component. Do you get any error when using newest component and older plugin?

Literally, the maps stops working/does not load when you upgrade the component to 6.1.0.
I tested this on two sites - same behavior - the map stops loading altogether.

In console, this error is present:
Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected identifier 'phocaMapRoute' (at contact:936:349)
contact:1053 Uncaught (in promise) ReferenceError: initMapPlgPM1 is not defined

Are you sure, some other part of your site does not render javascript error which then prevents from working other javascript on the site?

Do you get some error when displaying the map in component?

Testing both, testing the old plugin with new component, see no problem, I test on Joomla 6 but I don't expect, that in Joomla 5, there will be something different to J6 which can influence it

Originally, we tested 6.1.0 component and 6.0.2 plugin on J5 sites. However, I just tested 6.1.1 that you released yesterday. Same issue - the map is not loading at all.
Respectfully, please actually test your 6.1.x component and 6.0.2 plugin on a J 5.4.7. As that's where the error is and your page clearly says both the component and plugin should work on 5.x and 6.x.
We don't display the map in a component, we display it using the shortcode like {phocamaps view=map|id=1}
I having a hard time understanding how you had to update the plugin from 5.0.2 to 5.1.0, but 6.0.2 didn't need to have updates for and go to 6.1.0 as a result

Same issue here, maps not showing at all. Joomla 6.1.2, Maps 6.1.1, plugin 6.02.
