PayPal issues with Phoca Cart

Would someone be able to please help me get PayPal payments working on my Phoca Cart payment site.
I have tried using the Sandbox and also a live account to configure Phoca but all I get is this error message
"We're sorry, things don't appear to be working at the moment. Please try again later." i have read the Phoca manual and various web postings but I am a complete loss as to what to do and do not want to give up on my project.
I am able to give anyone whoever is able to help access to the site. I realise that Checkout carts are very complicated and commend Jan for the work he has done on this app.

Hi, if you get message from Paypal: "We're sorry, things don't appear to be working at the moment. Please try again later." than this is much more a question on PayPal developers to get more debug information about problems they have in their service. Unfortunately it is hard from such general message set by PayPal what they exactly mean. :idea:

Generally, most users have problem with parameter: Verify SSL Certificate - try to disable it.

I noticed in the error code url for "We're sorry, things don't appear to be working at the moment. Please try again later." a reference to AMOUNT_ERROR PayPal Ai said the code you're encountering could be due to incorrect or missing information, wrong data type, currency problems, incorrect JSON format, business rules, or outdated API.
I checked my Currency General options CODE that I set to 1 NOT realising it was meant to be the Currency Code NZD.
