Hi,
I recently updated PhocaGallery Component form 4.3.18 to 4.4.1 but I see that there is a difference between upload of image extensions. In version 4.3.18 I could upload the .jpeg or .JPG but the same files will not be uploaded in 4.4.1. Then iI get the error message 'error could not save file'.

The imagefiles are the same, I have an website with the PhocaGallery running without updating the component yet.

Maybe you can explain why there is a difference for upload these files suddenly, or is this a bug?

Hi,
to simulate this, do you use the frontend or the backend upload? If frontend uploud, single or multiple upload?
Which Joomla! & which PHP version?
Did you (or perhaps your website provider) change anything beside the update?

I use the frontend-upload and single upload.
Joomla version: 3.9.24 Stable
PHP version: 7.4.14
I Updated some other extensions besides PhocaGallery like: Slider CK, JEvents, Regular Labs Sourcerer, GDPR, JCE Editor.
that is all that is changed. If you want you can have access if it is needed.

I updated an other site of me with PhocaGalleryComponent from 4.2.2 to 4.4.1. And I only updated the component. Get the same error:'Error while saving item'. And I only updated the component. nothing more beside that, did not update anything else, did not made any change in the component.

Before the update of the component in this site, the file uploaded without any error.

Pls check in backend PG > Check for Update: screen:


and also Database, if up to date.

Some checks:
Permissions
clean tmp folder (except index.html)

I checked also in the backend of the component of PG: My version is the latest version of the component 4.4.1 with Joomla 3.9.24
I checked: Permissions on folders are: 755
I checked: Database is up to date.
I checked: the tmp folder is clean.

So what else could this be.

Try following:

Install again PG 4.4.1 Manage Extension via Upload Package File. (Don't de-install previous one).

If not successful (still getting error):

Would be useful to enable debug mode and error reporting in Joomla! Configuration.
Error reporting to Maxium. Debug Settings: Yes. To get more information where this problem occurs. So called "Call Stack"

(just install it over current installation)
There were reverted some changes regarding checking filename. Let me know if this works for you.

Hello Jan, I installed the test version over the current. And YESS!! Thank you, it works. The images that could not be uploaded anymore are saved and shown correctly.
