can't install Gallery component on my server

I uninstalled an older version of the component. Now I am trying to install a newer version but all I get is a blank page and the component is not installed. Previously, the component was not working correctly processing thumbnail images, due to lack of server support. The server couldn't handle processing images. It is a Windows server. What can I do in these cases?
how can I install the newest version and make it work on my server?
any help is greatly appreciated.
