Frontend category selection

Hi -
Is there a way a user can select what folder they upload photos into from the front end? I am aware you can set a folder from the backend, but let's say I have an editor who I want to be able to select if their photos go in category a or b, how would I go about it. At the moment, it only seems phoca is designed to put everything in a big pool from the front end, making more work for the admin to sort everything out from the backend.
Thanks

Hi, you can set upload rights for the user for category a and b, so he will be able to upload into a and b.

Hi Jan - thanks for the quick reply.
I have created two categories with the appropriate rights - however I can only get one or the other to show. What is meant to happen - does a drop down appear etc for the user to be able to select which category it goes into? I just get two tabs:
TAB 1: 'Edit Category'
(category and description text fields)
TAB 2: 'Upload'
(filename and description fields with upload form)
My menu item is in my user menu: 'Phoca Gallery User Control Panel Layout'

Hi, check if all phoca gallery tables are stored in the database, see:

See your permissions and ownership too:

I am having the same problem or at least I am assuming I am.
Can you explain how the Front end Category selection will work when it works?
If you cannot select which category uploaded images are going into then you may as well not bother with the front-end thing at all not being able to select it makes it useless as you then have to move images around in the admin area anyway! This would make the component useless for me I try as far as possible to keep clients/users out of the admin area as it is mega intimidating for non-tech users.
If there is not category selection drop down maybe I could modify the code to make one?
So can you confirm there is some kind of category selector when things are working properly and also provide any more tips for getting it to work properly?
thanks in advance

Hi, check the alpha version 2.6.0 (only for tests) to see the new UCP in frontend
BTW: Mostly the fronted managing of images, categories, etc, is more complicated as the admin. E.g. one view in admin I do 14 days. One view in frontend I made 4 months (because you cannot use the same methods as in admin, because there are problems with security, etc, etc.)

Hi Jan,
I have been doing some bits and bobs to try and speed things along- Not sure if they are any help.
On this page I posted how I got the plugin extended button to work but I am not sure if there are security issues with it...
viewtopic.php?f=33&t=5552&p=27299#p27299
and you can see on this page where I have made the module work as a slide show using the script from the 'Moe Fade plugin- I can send you these files too if they are any use to you.

How do I get hold of the alpha version?
Thanks v much for a great component though!
