Hello,
I wanted to migrate from joomla 2.5 to 3.7.2 and during this migration I had problems with Phoca. My webhost advised me to remove phoca gallery and then reinstall it. I installed version 4.2.2 that works, but I have not found my categories and my images ... as if it was empty.

I have the following message "404 - Category is unpublished or does not exist"

I checked in phpMyAdmin and my database is tjs there.

you need to follow this guide for exporting old Phoca Gallery Tables and to import them to new Phoca Gallery Tables:

some times it helps to save the menu link to Phoca Gallery Component once more.
