In my site www.meravigliosamenteonlus.it vertical photos are bad. How can I make my display better? Thank you

Hi,
you mean in Detail View? Do you crop the large thumnails? If yes, try out to don't crop them.
Delete the large thumbnails via FTP first and create them with the setting below once more:
backend --> Components --> Phoca Gallery --> Control Panel --> Options --> Thumbnails -->
Crop Thumbnails=Medium and Small Thumbnails
Save & Close
